BERLINCIAGAY #13 – Tommy Hart

How have you been? What have you been up to lately?

I've been great, travel keeps me busy and happy, but I'm really enjoying being home in Mexico for a few weeks to catch the beginning of the rainy season. A little moment of stillness before leaving for Europe for the summer.

When did you move to Mexico and how has living there shaped your sound?

It's been six years since I first arrived in Mexico City, and I feel like a very different person. I'm more sure of myself than I was in my twenties, and I've done some much needed growing up. I like to compare the juxtaposition of chaos and control in the city to my relationship with house and techno; what appears to be straightforward is often very nuanced and complicated, and the ebb and flow of energy is constant.

Where did you record your BERLINCIAGAY mix and what was the idea behind it?

This mix is from my first residency night at Yuyu Cine Club, recorded in April 2026. I played the closing set after Dj Warning, a tribal tech house champion and personal hero of mine. I kept the energy high, and led the room on a punchy, hypnotic, and sometimes introspective journey, rippling through some faster house and my own cheeky flavor of techno.

Who are your musical influences?

I can never not be inspired by New York--the drama of the Carry Nation, the energy of Sterling Juan Diaz, the unpredictability of x3butterfly. I have a background as an actor in musical theatre, so weaving stories through music has always been a part of my self-expression. Otherwise I really admire selectors like ISAbella and Sedef Adasï who have remained true to their respective sounds as their scopes have broadened; ISAbella has this fun party girl vibe and really lets it rip, but never loses the essence of control she has about her. Sedef's selections are so smart and deliciously chic. I'm dying to meet her.

What does community mean to you?

Community is the people you come back to who make you feel like you never left. A sense of belonging, the shared desire to understand and be understood, and the safety and freedom to be vulnerable. It's celebrating one another, because when one of us wins, we all win.

What’s next for you in 2026?

I'm really looking forward to a few special dates in Europe this summer, playing in Brazil for the first time and linking together a small tour through South America. I'm starting to think about booking some special guests at Yuyu for my remaining residency dates this year, and my little brother and his wife are pregnant with their first child! So I'll be welcoming a new baby girl into the family and assuming my duties as the funky uncle in the fall.
